Lincoln’s average for a gallon of gas jumps above $4, per Gasbuddy

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The average for a gallon of gas in Nebraska is rising.

According to Gasbuddy’s weekly report released early Monday, Lincoln’s average at the pump is now at $4.06/gallon. That’s more than 6 cents higher than a week ago and is now higher than the national average of $4.05/gallon.

Gasbuddy says Nebraska’s average as a state is also above $4/gallon against at $4.02.

“Gasoline, while not at all-time records, is at its highest level ever recorded this late in the calendar year, meaning Americans could for the first time ever see a national average price of gasoline above $4 per gallon on Labor Day — eclipsing the previous record of $3.83 per gallon set in 2012,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. 

This news comes as the U.S. is expected to announce new sanctions against Iran on Monday, which could potentially lower oil prices.
