VIDEO: Teresa Ewins nominated as new Lincoln Police Chief

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The search is over! Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird has nominated Teresa Ewins as the new Chief of Police for the Lincoln Police Department.

She would be Lincoln’s first-ever female Police Chief, pending approval from the Lincoln City Council.

Ewins was born and raised in California. She said she grew up with a learning disability and has always had a passion for soccer.

Ewins joined the police force when she was 30-years-old and is a 26-year veteran.

Prior to becoming our Chief of Police, Ewins was the highest-ranking LGBT officer with the San Francisco police.

Both the Lincoln Police Union and the Lincoln Journal Star chose to endorse Teresa Ewins prior to the announcement.
