WATCH: Lincoln man dies from gunshot wound, LPD launches homicide investigation
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Officers with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) will be holding a press conference concerning an active homicide investigation.
Officials say this investigation does not concern Carly Schaaf.
The victim who has suffered a gunshot wound to the face passed away on June 15. LPD says this is being investigated as a homicide.
He has been identified as 31-year-old Deontae Abron.
It all began on Saturday, June 12, when LPD responded to a report of gunshots around 4 am near I-80 and Adams Street.
Initially, officials say the shots were fired during a party of about 100 people after a fight broke out. Currently, they are referencing it as a “large gathering”
Deontae sustained facial injuries from a gunshot wound and was taken to a Lincoln hospital with life-threatening injuries. He would later be transported to an Omaha hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers report finding multiple shell casings in the area.
