Magic Moments: Lincoln family receives miracle ahead of Christmas

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Deborah Roberts helped give her son and grandson the surprise of a lifetime Monday morning.

When Deborah’s grandson Micah Roberts was just 2 months old, he stopped breathing.

His father, Michael, was able to revive him, but some time later, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Now 4 years old, Micah is being taken care of by his grandmother and father. Deborah says they work as a team.

“He’s been struggling, trying to raise Micah,” she said. “I do what I can do, but I can only do so much.”

Michael said the last year has been tough, but Micah makes every moment worthwhile.

“It brings a smile on my face knowing that he’s still here, and he’s happy, he is healthy, and I can’t say thank you enough,” Michael said.

Deborah only nominated Michael, but Union Bank & Trust and the Magic Moments team felt that all three members of the Roberts family deserved to be celebrated.

Each family member received special gifts, including groceries, a year’s worth of family outings and lots of sports-themed apparel.

Deborah says their joy in all that’s happened is watching Micah grow and learn each day.

“It’s just amazing how he has expanded,” she said. “He’s doing awesome.”
