110th anniversary of the Lincoln HighwayNebraska Lincoln Highway Historic Byway is the only byway that traverses the entire state. Now known as U.S. Highway 30, this historic route lets you enjoy a leisurely tour. Discover diversity, nostalgia and small-town charm. This website conveniently divides your drive into Western, Central and Eastern Regions, providing information on historic Lincoln Highway sites. There are currently no big things planned for this anniversary, but I’ve heard there might be some things in the works. Openings and Re-openings
CasinosThree gambling ballot measures passed in 2020 to make way for this. Lincoln has already opened their horse track as a casino – this year we will see casinos Grand Island open a temporary casino as they build their resort style casino (which is slated to open in 2025). Work is well underway on a Harrah’s casino in Columbus – no opening date for that project yet. South Sioux City also expect to open a Warhorse in 2023-24. More to come – there is a proposal for a casino resort and race track out near Lake McConaughy. Lewis & Clark Landing Reopening & Heartland of America Park Reopening The RiverFront in Omaha will be on grand display in 2023 as these parks reopen and are now connected to the recently revamped Gene Leahy Mall. Some new features at both parks will be a skating ribbon (roller skating in the summer and ice skating in the winter) and a new pedestrian promenade stretch ing the river edge. Looking ahead to 2024 MONA The museum is currently closed for a transformative restoration, renovation and expansion project. Slated to reopen in 2024. MONA (Museum of Nebraska Art) is being completely reimagined to offer more storage and display space, allow more space for programing and workshops and secure an accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums.
