NE grandmother & mom convicted in 2-yr-old’s death

Franklin Co., Ne – A grandmother and mother of a 2-year-old boy who died from severe head and internal injuries last year have been convicted of child abuse charges.

48-year-old Nancy Draper and her daughter, 25-year-old Laura Rinehart, pleaded no contest to separate charges in the death of Rinehart's son, Joseph, Jr.  The women are from Naponee, Nebraska.

Joseph died in April of 2012 after family members took him to the hospital for severe vomiting. An autopsy revealed he died of severe head and internal injuries.

Sentencing for  Draper and Rinehart is scheduled for  August 20. Draper's husband

Draper could face up to 50 years in prison for the felony count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Likewise, Rinehart could see as much prison time for attempted child abuse resulting in death.  Draper's husband, 48-year-old Peter Draper was convicted in the same case.  His sentencing is scheduled for August 1.
