LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Farm Bureau Political Action Committee has endorsed Bob Evnen for secretary of state.

The Farm Bureau’s PAC also endorsed Speaker of the Legislature Mike Hilgers and State Treasurer John Murante.

Evnen is currently running for reelection as Nebraska’s secretary of state.

“Bob Evnen has a long and impressive record of engagement that makes him well qualified to serve as Nebraska’s Secretary of State,” said Sherry Vinton, chair of the PAC and first vice president of Nebraska Farm Bureau.

Evnen, a former member of the Nebraska State Board of Education, was elected in 2018.  He’s previously served as a board member of Nebraska Continuing Legal Education Inc. and in numerous leadership roles in the state’s Republican Party.

“The Secretary of State has many important responsibilities, including overseeing trade missions to promote Nebraska’s agricultural products and protecting voter integrity in our state elections,” Vinton said in a press release. “Bob Evnen will serve Nebraskans well and we are pleased to offer him our support as he seeks reelection as Nebraska’s Secretary of State.”

Hilgers is running to serve as Nebraska’s attorney general.

“Nebraskans are best served when we have an Attorney General who understands the role of agriculture in our state’s economy,” Vinton said in a press release.  “Throughout his legislative service, Mike Hilgers has demonstrated a firm grasp of the issues that can have tremendous impacts on the well-being of Nebraska farm and ranch families.”

Murante is running for reelection as Nebraska’s state treasurer.

“During his first term as State Treasurer, John worked with Nebraska Farm Bureau to make it easier for Nebraskans to claim the Refundable Income Tax Credit for Property Taxes Paid to Schools,” Vinton said in a press release. “We are proud to offer our support as he seeks re-election to the office of State Treasurer.”
