Nebraska Medicine now delaying certain elective surgeries due to COVID-19 case capacity

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Medical Center is the next major hospital in the state to delay certain elective surgeries due to a rise in COVID-19 patients.

With the rising cases of the Delta variant and the hospital seeing a nursing shortage, Nebraska Medicine is reducing the number of surgeries that require a hospital stay at their facility, effective August 30th.

Nebraska Medical Center says there are no changes to surgery scheduling at Bellevue Medical Center or any of our procedural/outpatient surgical centers.
Nebraska Medicine expects this plan to be in place from September through the month of October, although plans may change depending on the future COVID-19 situation.
