Nebraska pet owners could save thousands of dollars with newly signed bill

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Pet Insurance Act has been signed by Gov. Jim Pillen, potentially saving pet owners a lot of money.

Pillen posted a photo of himself holding Cameron the Capitol Cat on social media.

He included a message saying, “Pet insurance helps pet owners give the best care to their dogs and cats — like Cameron!”

Channel 8 previously spoke with experts who said the bill could spare you from having to spend thousands of dollars.

It will require insurers to provide full details on waiting periods, claim schedules and exclusions for preexisting conditions.

The newly signed measure also makes training mandatory for agents who sell pet insurance.
