Nebraska softball dominates Lamar in season opener

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska softball started its season with a shutout win over Lamar on Friday.

The Huskers beat Lamar 8-0 in five innings.

Nebraska will now go on to play South Dakota State in the second game of the Houston Invitational at 12:30 p.m.

Through four innings, Lamar was hitless against Nebraska’s Courtney Wallace.

Wallace pitched all five innings, finishing the game with one hit allowed and five strikeouts.

Wallace, Billie Andrews, Abbie Squier, Sydney Gray and Caitlynn Neal each brought home a run in the season opener.

Andrews capped off the game with an RBI double to secure the Huskers’ first win of the season.
