Rain continues Wednesday night; Strong winds arrive Thursday

What a soggy day Wednesday.  Rains fell over southeast Nebraska for most of the day.  So much so, records were broken for daily rainfall in Lincoln and Grand Island.

Rain will continue through early Thursday morning.  The rain should end in Lancaster and Gage counties by 6 a.m.  Clouds will be left behind, keeping skies mostly cloudy much of the day.  Skies should begin to brighten by late afternoon in Lincoln and Beatrice.  Further west, mostly sunny skies will prevail for areas from York and west.  Highs will be in the middle to upper 50°s.

The big story for Thursday will be the strong winds out of the north-northwest.  Sustained winds will be 12 to 24 mph but gusts will be 35 to 45 mph.  Hang on to your hats, children, and small animals!
