Remaining hot, a few storms possible

We will start the week off dry and hot, which is very typical for August. We do have a storm chance, but it’ll be very hit and miss. Also very August-like!

Afternoon highs on Monday will be at or above average (88).

The dew points will be in the 60s for much of the eastern half of the state, so the heat index will push into the upper 90s for some.

Almost the entire state is in a level 1 “Marginal Risk” for severe storms. The potential is there for a storm if all the right parameters can come together, however, that will be difficult to do. The instability will be fairly low so storms will be isolated and not everyone will see them. If a storm does form, it has the potential to be severe with damaging wind and hail.

The cold front will sweep across the state Monday night, so storms are possible as it moves from east to west. Storms will need to overcome the cap (hot air aloft) first, though.

It’ll be hot and humid again on Tuesday.

It will be hot and humid on Wednesday, too. Then, a cold front moves through, a stronger one this time, and we’ll see storms and cooler air move in with it.
