Sen. Fischer takes friendly shot at Nick Saban over his ‘lack of wins’ against Nebraska in the 90s

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer took a friendly shot at former Alabama football head coach Nick Saban on Wednesday during his testimony in support of a college sports bill.
While Fischer was on the mic, she asked Saban about his record against the Nebraska football team during Tom Osborne’s tenure as head coach.
After agreeing with Fischer that Osborne “was the best,” Saban went on to tell a story about the first time the two coaches went head-to-head in the 90s.
“My first game at Michigan State, my first game as a head coach, we played Nebraska when they were winning national championships and he was the coach, this was 1995. We got beat like 56-7. He put his arm around me after the game and said ‘You aren’t as bad as you think.’ And we actually went 6-5 so he was right.”
