Severe storm potential in Nebraska for May 5-6, 2023

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Above shows what the radar may look like as we head through Friday evening into Saturday morning.

Strong to severe storms will be possible.

Overall, there is a marginal (green) to slight (yellow) risk for severe storms Friday night.

Marginal is a level 1 out of 5. Slight is a level 2 out of 5.

There is a small risk for an isolated tornado with any storm that does form, especially in central, western, and southwest Nebraska.

The hail potential stretches across much of the state.

The highest risk for large hail is in the yellow-shaded area where the black lines exist.

Larger than golf ball-size hail is possible in southwest Nebraska.

Damaging wind will also be a possibility as the night progresses. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph will be possible.
