SOURCES: Pres. Trump refused to call in National Guard during riots

It wasn't until White House officials intervened for "the sake of the country" that something was done.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –According to multiple sources from ABC News, President Trump rebuffed efforts for quite some time to call in the national guard on Wednesday afternoon as pro-Trump protesters were storming Capitol Hill. The sources said it wasn’t until a few White House officials intervened for the “sake of the country”.

Sources tell ABC News the aides explained to Trump that if action was not taken other protesters could mobilize across the country and the situation would only grow more dire.

It is also said that the President is fuming mad inside the White House, he is described by one strong source as “stewing”.
