Southern Miss designated hitter Charlie Fischer transferring to Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Southern Miss designated hitter Charlie Fischer is coming to Haymarket Park for the 2023 season.

The Minnesota native announced his transfer to Nebraska on Wednesday.

After spending four seasons with the Golden Eagles, he will use his last year of eligibility with the Huskers.

Last season, Fischer played 21 games and ended with a .167 batting average.

In 2021, Fischer was voted Conference USA first team at designated hitter and also earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-South Region first team.

Within the last month, multiple Huskers have announced they would be entering the transfer portal, including Cam Chick, Frank Koty and Leighton Banjoff.
