Starting to Heat Up (6/10/22)

Heat and humidity will be building in this weekend with highs on Saturday in the lower 90s. That’s not too far off from the average high of 84, but the heat index will start to creep up on us and will be in the middle 90s.

By Sunday, the warm up continues with our high temperature trying for the middle 90s. The heat index will likely be in the lower 100s. This is the first real extended heat potential of the season so it’s best to take it easy this weekend. Take many breaks, find shade when possible, and drink plenty of water!

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible on and off throughout the weekend with the best chance early evening Saturday in eastern Nebraska and then on and off on Sunday. The severe weather threat is minimal.

With mostly sunny skies, the heat continues to build in for the start of next week. Highs will be in the upper 90s with a few 100s possible. The heat index will likely be in the 105-110 range on Monday and Tuesday.
