Summer Remains in Full Swing to Start the Week
Abundant sunshine, heat and humidity will continue for the start of the work week. We start out in the low 90s, though temperatures and heat indices are expected to take a jump for the back half of the week.
The latest runs of StormCast show a quiet start to the work week across the state.
Heat index values near 100° remain isolated to the panhandle, for now. A Heat Advisory is in place until 12 a.m. MDT on Wednesday, July 15.
Lows tonight will be a few degrees cooler heading into early Monday morning, with temperatures in the 60s for most of the state.
We are expecting clear skies through the overnight hours in Lincoln, though patchy areas of morning fog cannot be ruled out with higher levels of humidity and light winds.
A few upper 80s will be sprinkled in with highs in the lower 90s across the state for Monday. The warmest temperatures will once again reside in the panhandle, where they will have a shot at 100°.
Monday will once again feature mostly sunny skies and summerlike temperatures in the Capital City. Winds pick up a little in the afternoon, though that may help us add another degree or two to the afternoon highs.
Expect the heat index to slowly climb through the week ahead. Heat indices top out near 100° heading into the end of the week.
Long-term forecasts continue to signal above-average temperatures across the country through the next 10 days.
The latest stretch of heat and humidity continues through at least next weekend. Precipitation chances look minimal for now, though long-term forecasts hint towards a more active pattern to end the month.
