Sunshine returns; June-like temperatures this weekend

Showers and a few thunderstorms will remain possible through the evening.  I am not anticipating any severe storms. Clouds will be on the decrease early Thursday morning, pre-sunrise.  Lows will drop in to the middle 40°s.

Dma Tomorrow High

Mostly sunny skies are expected for Thursday. A cold front will pass through the region, turning winds out of the north.  Winds will start to gust to 25 mph through the afternoon.  Even with the cold front passing, temperatures will be warmer than Wednesday.  Highs should be in the lower 70°s.

This begins a warming trend for the rest of the week and going in to the weekend.  The weekend will be warm, feeling more like mid-June than the first weekend of May.  This isn’t unusual as last May 1 the temperature reached 91° in Lincoln.  However, this should be the second warmest start to May in 20 years.  Highs will climb in to the middle to upper 80°s under mainly sunny skies.

Winds should increase out of the south/southwest Saturday afternoon with gusts to 30-35 mph.

A front begins to move in to the state Sunday which brings more clouds.  Southeast Nebraska should mainly stay on the “warm” side of the front leading to highs in the upper 70°s to lower 80°s.  Clouds will be on the increase through the afternoon
and rain chances start to increase Sunday evening.
