Teens hijacked vehicle after victim asked if they wanted a ride, Lincoln Police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman lost her vehicle Wednesday after offering teens a ride in a north Lincoln neighborhood, police say.

Before noon, a 20-year-old woman and her friend were delivering food near North First Street and Cornhusker Highway when they saw three teenage boys walking in the cold.

They asked the teens if they wanted a ride, according to police.

One of the boys then pulled out a gun and used it to hit the driver on the head several times before ordering both women out of the car.

Around 4 p.m., officers found the stolen vehicle, which had crashed near 25th and P Streets.  Five teens had gotten out of the vehicle and ran away after the crash, according to police.

One of the teens got rid of the gun as he was running away, but officers later recovered it.

Four of the teens, ranging in age from 15 to 17, were taken into custody after a short chase.

Police lodged the teens in the Lancaster County Youth Services Center on suspicion of robbery and weapons violations.
