Three-star tight end Keelan Smith commits to Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The son of former Husker defensive tackle Neil Smith has committed to play at Nebraska.
Three-star tight end Keelan Smith announced the commitment Friday via a video on YouTube.
The 6-foot-3 Missouri native finished his junior season with 50 catches for 850 yards, according to 247Sports.
Smith, a 2024 recruit, also totaled 11 touchdowns in 12 games for Liberty North High School.
Keelan’s father, Neil, played defensive tackle for the Huskers from 1985 to 1987.
Neil earned several awards during his time at Nebraska, including being named the 1988 Fiesta Bowl Defensive Player-of-the-Game.
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Neil with the 2nd pick in the 1988 NFL draft’s first round.
