Traffic stop in York County leads to seizure of drugs, weapons

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A North Carolina man was arrested in York County on Saturday after he was pulled over on Interstate 80.
Just before midnight, a York County Sheriff’s Office K9 sergeant pulled over an SUV on Interstate 80, just west of the York exit, for a moving violation.
During the traffic stop, the sheriff’s office said the sergeant noticed signs of impairment from the driver and started a DUI investigation.
The sheriff’s office said the driver also failed to tell the sergeant he had a loaded handgun inside the vehicle.
According to authorities, the investigation led to a probable cause search of the vehicle, where the sergeant found a “significant quantity” of illegal substances and weapons, including:
- A loaded handgun
- A loaded revolver
- Over 400 THC vape cartridges
- Over a pound of THC wax
- Over 150 prerolled marijuana joints
- Over 100 THC gummies
- Multiple knives
A certified drug recognition expert determined that the driver was on drugs and was unable to drive the car.
The driver, 49-year-old Kevin Anderson, of Havelock, North Carolina, was arrested on suspicion of the following charges:
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony
- Possession with intent to deliver
- Possession of marijuana over one pound
- No drug tax stamp
- DUI – drugs, first offense
- Carrying a concealed weapon without disclosure to law enforcement
- Carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Anderson was lodged in the York County Jail.
