LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska football seems to be in good shape regarding any COVID-19 rules for this upcoming season. According to athletic director Trev Alberts, the Huskers are 90 percent vaccinated as a program.

“I will tell you that the University of Nebraska is right there with the top (Big Ten) schools in terms of vaccination rates,” Alberts said during a radio appearance on the Huskers Sports Network.

The Big Ten announced earlier this week that if a team couldn’t play because of complications with COVID-19, that team would be forced to forfeit their game and take a loss.

“Once we sorted through the realities of what the Big Ten protocols were going to look like,” Alberts said, “It became very clear this was going to have a significant impact.”

Nebraska travels to Illinois to open the season on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. on FOX.
