Two men caught after stealing $500 in tools from Lincoln construction site, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two men were arrested early Thursday morning after they stole $500 in tools from a construction site, Lincoln Police say.

Around 5 a.m., an employee reported seeing two men on surveillance video at the construction site near 10th and High Streets.

The two men eventually left in a van, police say.

Later on, officers pulled over the van near Interstate 180 and Cornhusker Highway and interviewed Jeffrey Smith, 42, and Jory Rybij, 40.

Officers found several tools, which had been reported stolen from the job site, in the back of the van.  Police estimate that the tools were worth around $500.
