Valparaiso woman accused of DUI after driving through cornfield north of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Valparaiso woman’s vehicle erupted into flames after she drove through a cornfield Friday night, authorities say.
Around 8:20 p.m., the Valparaiso Fire Department was sent to a vehicle fire near Northwest 56th Street and West Davey Road.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said a 34-year-old woman drove through about a half-acre of corn before her vehicle caught fire.
After an investigation, the woman was found to be intoxicated, according to Houchin. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Houchin said that the woman caused $2,000 in damage and that her vehicle is a total loss.
