Victim identified in fiery crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – According to Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, the victim involved in the fatal firey crash near SW98th and West Denton Road on Tuesday was Gary Olsen, age 81, of Omaha.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the crash was originally reported at 2:44 a.m. as a grass fire.

Olsen was identified in an autopsy yesterday afternoon, his next of kin has been notified.  According to Olsen’s family, they have no idea why he would have been in Denton, officers don’t know what he was doing in the area either.

On Monday morning, a neighbors ring camera caught Olsen leaving his home and never returning.

LSO state that pre-existing medical conditions may have contributed to the crash.  Olsen had no trauma from the crash and his cause of death is still pending further forensic investigation.

The vehicle had minimal damage from the actual crash

Widespread damage from the fire has made it hard to determine where the fire originated, because of this, the Fire Marshall has not yet determined the cause of the fire
