North Star’s Donovan Williams and Crete’s Morgan Maly were named Mr. and Miss Basketball in the state on Thursday.
Williams, who has yet to commit to a college though he has a number of Division-I offers, exploded in the second half of the season for the Gators after missing the early part as he recovered from a torn ACL. He scored 28 points a game and grabbed eight rebounds this past year.
Maly, a Creighton signee, averaged 20 points and nine rebounds a game this past season, leading Crete to its first state title since 1981. She was also named Nebraska’s Gatorade Player of the Year in March.
