Woman accused of biting, assaulting police officers

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A woman crashed into two parked cars while driving a stolen vehicle early Friday morning.

Just after 1 am, officers with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) responded to the area of S 40th and ‘J’ Streets for the traffic accident.

A 2020 gray Nissan Altima hit two cars parked on the side of the street. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Makayla Jackson, was still at the scene.

Witnesses say Jackson had stolen the Nissan from the area of ‘O’ and Antelope Pkwy. LPD later confirmed that the vehicle was stolen when it was left running in a parking lot.

Officers proceeded to take Jackson into custody who immediately resisted. Once she was in the cruiser, Jackson continued to kick and struggle.

Jackson was evaluated at the hospital for any potential injuries sustained during the accident. She was cleared around 4 am.

When LPD was taking her out of the hospital, she again kicked at hospital items and tried to run while in handcuffs. Jackson also bit an officer in the left and severely scratched at them.

Jackson was arrested on several charges including two counts of assault on an officer and felony theft.

The stolen Nissan was ruled a total loss, costing about $24,000. As for the two parked cars, one was a Chevy Impala which sustained $5,000 in damage, the other was a Fore Escape which sustained $500 in damage.
