Woman in critical after being hit by train

A Kansas woman is recovering at a Lincoln hospital after being hit by a train in Steele City.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials say it happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday. Emergency crews found 21-year-old Mandy L. Horvath of Manhattan, Kansas, laying on the tracks beneath an empty Union Pacific coal train. Horvath was flown to a Lincoln hospital in life-threatening condition.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing, but alcohol is believed to be a factor.
