Chick-fil-A dining room back open after shooting

The dining room at the south Lincoln Chick-fil-A reopened Thursday.

The restaurant was closed after an incident last week in which a man drove his truck into the building and was then shot and killed by a BNSF special agent.

The restaurant’s drive-thru opened a week ago, but due to damages, the dining room had to remain closed.

“It feels really good, I mean I think there’s something about getting back into a routine and seeing some familiar faces with our customers and just serving great food again. There’s something very cathartic about that,” says Owner Charlie Colón in an interview with Channel 8 News. “The number of regulars that we’ve had not only be in contact with us, but then come through today has been pretty awesome.”

Many customers at the restaurant were very happy to be back, too.

“The service and the food is incredible, the people here are so nice and so wonderful despite all the horrific things that have transpired here this past week, they have always been so wonderful,” says regular customer Solomon Wang. “The spirit of Chick-fil-A lives on!”
