No one won yesterday’s 500 million dollar Powerball jackpot… but a dozen people around the country won the next best prize.
One of those tickets was sold right here in Lincoln.
Just missing the jackpot by one number, a dozen tickets were sold in the U.S. that matched all of the numbers, except for the Powerball number, winning those people one million dollars each.
"I’m pretty sure I know who it is. I’m waiting for them to come in here tomorrow and confirm it. But I’m pretty sure I know who it is, one of the regulars."
Quincy Greer, a store clerk at Fat Dog gas station near Adams and Cornhusker Highway sold that winning ticket.
He not only says he thinks he knows who the winner is… but that he has a reputation for selling lucky tickets.
"One thousand dollars. A 15–thousand dollar extravaganza ticket last year. The second month I worked here I sold it to one of the regulars," Greer adds.
Nebraska sees winners pretty often.
Yesterday’s ticket was the 15th million dollar winner in Nebraska since that prize was started back in 2012.
And Nebraska sees plenty of jackpot winners as well.
"The most recent one was back in December of 2013, when the Harrigs, from Gretna, the won 64.1 million dollars," said Neil Watson with the Nebraska Lottery.
Yesterday’s ticket winner has come forward.
Nebraska Lottery officials can’t tell us yet who it is until Friday, but did say it’s a group of people.
Since last night’s Powerball jackpot was not hit, the prize has increased to 700–million dollars for Saturday’s drawing.
That’s the largest jackpot in Powerball history.
