Public invited to event honoring veterans at Antelope Park in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to its Bricks of Honor dedication event at the Veterans Memorial Garden.
The Bricks of Honor program recognizes veterans whose family and friends have bought a dedication brick at Antelope Park’s memorial garden over the past year.
The event will be held at the garden at 10 a.m. Saturday.
“Lincoln Parks Foundation is proud to partner with Parks and Recreation on the Veterans Memorial Garden,” said Bradley J. Brandt, chair of the Lincoln Parks Foundation board of directors. “We are humbled to facilitate the Bricks of Honor program, which honors our community’s veterans and their families.”
The veterans memorial garden was built in 1989 and contains 5,000 personalized bricks.
Those bricks celebrate the pride, patriotism and sacrifices of military personnel, city officials say.
