National Weather Service confirms tornado in south Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that a tornado touched down in the village of Ruskin, which is southeast of Hastings.

Staff at the NWS office in Hastings determined that the EF-0 tornado reached speeds of up to 85 miles per hour on Tuesday.

The tornado started northwest of the village and moved southeast for nearly 10 miles, NWS said in its damage survey.

Along its path, the tornado damaged grain bins, center irrigation pivots and the roofing of at least two buildings.

Most of the damage was confined to trees, according to NWS.

NWS thanked Thayer and Nuckolls Counties’ emergency management officials for their help with the damage survey.
