Nebraska volleyball sweeps Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in dominant season opener

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Huskers started the season off with a bang on Friday, sweeping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in front of a sold-out crowd.
The Devaney Center was booming as Nebraska defeated the Islanders in three sets 25-15, 25-16 and 25-19.
The Huskers were dominant from start to finish, hitting .388, which is the highest percentage for a season opener since 2001.
Nebraska extended its dominance to defense and held the visitors to a -.021 hitting percentage.
The Huskers are now 41-7 all-time in season openers.
Standout offensive performances include Madi Kubik’s 11 kills, freshman Bekka Allick’s seven kills and five blocks, and Penn State transfer Kaitlyn Hord’s five kills and seven blocks.
In her first match as a defensive specialist, Nicklin Hames had eight digs.
Last year’s Big Ten freshman of the year, libero Lexi Rodriguez, had 12 digs and two ace serves.
At 6:30 p.m., Nebraska will face Tulsa in the second match of the day.
