Gov. Jim Pillen orders flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Monterey Park victims

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Flags in Nebraska are to fly at half-staff after 11 people were killed in a mass shooting in California.

Gov. Jim Pillen announced Monday that all flags are to be flown at half-staff immediately in remembrance of those lost in Monterey Park.

The order is in tandem with a White House proclamation. Flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on Thursday.

On Saturday, police say 72-year-old Huu Can Tran entered a dance club in Monterey Park, California, and opened fire on a crowd.

Tran then walked into different dance hall moments after the shooting, but was disarmed by a brave bystander.

Tran was later found dead in a van in Torrance, California, after shooting himself.
