LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An inmate who went missing nearly two months ago was arrested Friday in Omaha, corrections officials say.

Julian Tapia, 20, was caught by Douglas County deputies who were working with the fugitive task force, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says.

Tapia, who was serving a sentence of up to 21 years, went missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha on Feb. 19.

Officials say Tapia had been convicted of first and second-degree assault charges in Buffalo County.  He had a parole hearing scheduled for February 2024.
