Passenger arrested over dagger-like straw; don’t try bringing one to Lincoln Airport

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A passenger was arrested for bringing his “vampire straw” through a security checkpoint over the weekend.
Massachusetts State Police say this happened on Sunday at Boston’s Logan International Airport.
Arman Achuthan Nair was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon after the 10-inch-long titanium straw was found in his backpack.
Authorities say it can be used like a dagger.
TSA New England shared a post on social media saying, “These items are not allowed in passenger carry-on bags.”
The company that makes them says they’re designed for self-defense but also allow owners to effortlessly drink thick shakes or smoothies.
This comes as TSA checkpoints nationwide are reporting a steady increase in weapons this year.
Officers found an average of nearly 17 firearms every day between January and the first half of March.
