Warm day for the pool, storms to north and west Memorial Day
With warm weather this past weekend, leading into Memorial Day, it has set us up perfectly for some pool time. Monday is the day many pools around Lincoln will open, and temperatures will be increasing to the upper 80s by peak heating.
Most of the day will see partly cloudy to mostly sunny conditions, but don’t let the clouds fool you! You can still get sunburnt through the cloud cover, so sunscreen will still be a good idea.
Similarly to Sunday and this past weekend, most of the storms recently have remained off to our north and west. That pattern continues as a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk has been issued by the Storm Prediction Center. Main threats include hail at first, but largely strong winds.
One version of Stormcast shows these storms firing up between Valentine and O’Neill and west of North Platte before sunset. As storms race east, everything will be diminishing as it starts to get closer to Lincoln (of course, sad face).
Looking more into this week, this above-average stretch has quite the grip on us through the start of June. We’ll be warmer than average by about 5-10° every day, as our averages at this time of the year increase to the lower 80s.
There are enough disturbances moving through this week to promote daily chances for precipitation throughout our area, even though most will miss out on it. The chances are small through the weekend.
