Man pleads no contest to summer slayings at Lincoln Motel 6, grassy field

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man pleaded no contest Wednesday to killing a man at a Motel 6 and another in a field near the People’s City Mission.

William Wright, 56, was facing two counts of first-degree murder in the August slayings of Ronald George, 61, and Ronnie Patz, 49.

He was also charged with using a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

But under a plea deal, Lancaster County District Judge Darla S. Ideus amended Wright’s charges to two counts of second-degree murder.

Wright pleaded no contest to the charges, according to court documents.  His sentencing has been scheduled for Aug. 15.

Wright could face up to life in prison.
