Saline County Fair ‘was a hit’
CRETE, Neb. (KLKN) – The Saline County Fair welcomed over 5,000 people to the five-day event.
The fair started over 120 years ago and has been held on the same ground for over a century.
The City of Crete works with the Saline County Agricultural Society to ensure the fair happens smoothly.
Another huge factor for the fair has been community support.
“We’ve got some good people on our board and a lot of young people who are excited about being involved to help,” said Theresa Vernon, a fair board member. “The kids just had a ball playing with stuff – little toys, scooping corn, riding peddle tractors. It was great; it was a hit.”
Tuesday featured 4-H and FFA competitions.
Community members brought art, plants, food and clothes for judging.
On Wednesday, the fair hosted a horse show, and livestock entries arrived.
There was a race and demolition derby on Thursday night and a concert by country artist Aaron Watson on Friday night.
On Saturday, the PRCA Rodeo brought professional riders from across the country.
The carnival will run until late Sunday night.
