LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol kept speedsters off the roads during an anti-speeding enforcement campaign in July.

On Friday, the patrol released the results of the campaign, in which troopers stopped 118 drivers for going over 100 mph.

Those are the most citations for going over 100 mph issued by troopers in any month since July 2020.

Last month, troopers also cited 505 drivers for going between 90 and 99 mph, according to the patrol.

“The stats are clear: speeding plays a factor in a large percentage of serious injury or fatal crashes,” Col. John Bolduc, the patrol’s superintendent, said in a press release. “It’s important for everyone on the road to watch their speed and work to keep everyone on the road safe.”

The patrol joined several other law enforcement agencies across the country in the Speed Catches Up with You campaign.

In recent years, speeding-related fatalities have increased nationwide, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
