LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Nebraska inmate will spend several more years in prison for stabbing another prisoner in 2021.

Bailey Brown was sentenced Monday to 15 to 25 years in prison for first-degree assault and four years for use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, according to the Johnson County attorney.

The assault happened on April 3, 2021, at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

Authorities said two inmates stabbed another inmate in his arms and torso in the prison yard.

Prison staff found two homemade weapons.

Brown is already serving time on robbery, assault and drug charges.

District Court Judge Ricky A. Schreiner ordered that the new sentences be served consecutively to each other and to his prior sentences.

Brown is expected to complete his original sentence in August 2026, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

He must serve 9½ years of the new sentence before he is eligible for parole, so he will be in prison until at least February 2037.
