A warmer and breezier Wednesday

The wind returns on Wednesday, and this time, it takes on more of a southerly component. Sustained wind speeds anywhere from 13-23 mph will be possible during the day, with gusts pushing 30 mph.

Stormcast Wind Gusts

Sunshine remains on Wednesday. The combination of sunshine and southerly flow will heat things up across the state. We’re forecasting highs in the middle-90s in the Lincoln area on Wednesday.

Wednesday Forecast

You’ll also notice some humidity, which will help keep temperatures a little lower. We’ll have less humidity in western Nebraska, and highs may reach 100° in those areas.

A cold front will pass through the state on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, we don’t have enough moisture to see any rain as it passes. However, the front will cool things off for a day. Thursday will be comfortable with highs in the low to mid-80s, less wind, and lower humidity.

Thursday Forecast

All good things must come to an end, and more intense heat builds back into the area on Friday and especially over the weekend. High temperatures will be flirting with long-standing records on Saturday and Sunday.

Near Record Heat

The long-term pattern features a lot of heat as well. While temperatures may back off next week, we’re still likely looking at 90s for several days.
