Standoff In Syracuse
A 4 hour standoff started in Syracuse Tuesday afternoon when a gunman entered a local pharmacy.
The standoff ended peacefully around 8:30, when the gunman was taken into custody.
Police say 28-year old Bruce Leazer entered the Town and Country Pharmacy with a semi-automatic handgun.
He reportedly demanded drugs from the pharmacist.
Shortly after, all customers and staff got out safely.
Several law enforcement agencies surrounded the business, trying to communicate with Leazer.
15 members of the SWAT Team were there.
Eventually a robot from the state patrol was sent into to see if it was safe to enter.
It all ended when authorities led Leazer out of the building.
Friends of Leazer said he was a customer at that pharmacy and may have been suicidal.
People in Syracuse said it was quite the commotion.
“We came down and saw the swat team, state patrol coming in, everyone coming in, and they've got a dog out there, I've never really seen something like this.”
“The subject was laying face down in the pharmacy area of the building, he was appeared to be unresponsive but yet conscious at the time, the swat team made entry into the pharmacy area and took him into custody he did have vital signs.”
Leazer was taken to a local hospital to be checked over.
