Man threatened officer during DUI arrest at Grand Island gas station, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man threatened an officer while resisting arrest at a Grand Island gas station on Saturday, police say.
Around 9 a.m., officers were sent to Pump and Pantry near Locust and Lake streets and spoke with Austin Kinman-Rodriguez.
Earlier in the morning, police received a report that Kinman-Rodriguez was possibly driving under the influence.
While speaking with Kinman-Rodriguez, officers “observed signs of impairment” and smelled alcohol on his breath, police said.
Kinman-Rodriguez refused a sobriety test, and officers tried taking him into custody.
While resisting arrest, he threatened to assault an officer if he saw him in public.
Kinman-Rodriguez also made “derogatory racial slurs” toward an officer, police said.
Inside his vehicle, officers found multiple alcohol bottles.
Kinman-Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including second-offense DUI and terroristic threats.
