‘Bloody Tuesday’ practice puts Huskers through the wringer ahead of Michigan
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – As Nebraska football returns to conference play on Saturday against No. 2 Michigan, the Huskers are doing everything they can to prepare.
“Today was Bloody Tuesday,” Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White said. “So my voice is gone again.”
“Bloody Tuesday” describes the most physical and competitive practice of the week for the Huskers.
It sets the tone for game day, and this week, “Bloody Tuesday” prepared the Huskers to face a tough Michigan team.
“We want to set a standard of how we play, how physical we are, regardless of who shows up,” White said. “If we hold ourselves to that standard … the game will take care of itself.”
Players also recognize how beneficial the competitive practices are.
“It’s a very physical practice,” defensive lineman Blaise Gunnerson said. “Offensive and defensive lines going at it, secondary guys flying down with running backs. It’s a fun practice to be a part of, and I appreciate that coach (Matt) Rhule understands how important physicality is for us in the Big Ten.”
