Trio of Husker volleyball players earn weekly Big Ten honors

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A trio of Nebraska volleyball players earned weekly Big Ten honors after wins over No. 17 Purdue and Indiana.
On Monday, the conference named Merritt Beason as the Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Beason had 19 kills and hit .368 with nine digs and five blocks in the Huskers’ 3-2 win at Purdue.
On Saturday, Beason posted a career-high 22 kills and a season-high 12 digs, while hitting .400 in Nebraska’s 3-1 win at Indiana.
For the second week in a row, freshman Bergen Reilly earned the co-Big Ten Setter of the Week honor.
Over the weekend, Reilly averaged 11.89 assists per set and 1.89 digs per set with eight kills and a pair of service aces.
Another first-year Husker, Harper Murray, was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.
In the win against the Boilermakers, Murray had a career-high 21 kills with 10 digs and two blocks.
Nebraska volleyball’s road trip continues this week as it faces Michigan State on Friday and Michigan on Saturday.
The Huskers remain ranked second in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
