Omaha-based nonprofit delivers Thanksgiving meals to breast cancer survivors

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The nonprofit Project Pink’d delivered 265 Thanksgiving meals to survivors of breast cancer on Sunday.
Breast cancer survivors in Nebraska and western Iowa registered to have pre-cooked and packaged frozen meals delivered straight to their porches, according to a press release from Project Pink’d.
Pick-up began at 1 p.m. in both Omaha and Lincoln. Over 50 Project Pink’d volunteers spent the day picking up and porch delivering the meals, intended to serve four, for survivors to reheat and enjoy on Thanksgiving.
The meal delivery comes a week after the nonprofit’s “Care to Share” Thanksgiving event, which allowed survivors to connect and share their blessings with other survivors.
The yearly program is an effort at “easing the burden for survivors going through treatment, or those in need of a little extra TLC this holiday season.”
