Nebraska pharmacy owner ordered to pay over $500,000 for health care fraud
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Neligh pharmacy owner will serve a federal prison sentence and pay a fine for health care fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
Danelle Charf, 49, was sentenced Monday for making false, fictitious and fraudulent statements in connection with health care services.
Chief Judge Robert Rossiter ordered Charf to spend two months in prison and to pay $573,337.53 in restitution to Medicare and Medicaid.
Charf – the former owner of pharmacies in Neligh and Tilden – billed for name-brand products while dispensing generic medications, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
During an invoice review, investigators found that over 1,600 Medicare and Medicaid claims were not supported by the pharmacies’ drug purchases.
After her release from prison, Charf will serve a three-year term of supervised release.
