Winter storm potential into the weekend
A slow storm system will impact western Nebraska Thursday, through Friday, into very early Saturday. That storm will then wobble a bit, push south, then makes its way into eastern Nebraska.
If you have travel plans on Thanksgiving, most of Nebraska will be quiet and cool. Above is what it will look like around noon. Notice the snow is just starting to move into the panhandle.
If you have travel plans after Thanksgiving, keep an eye on Friday and Saturday (above). Snow will be moving across the central part of the US.
Above is a video of what a weather model is saying we may see for snow as we head through Thursday, Friday, and into Saturday. Most of this wants to stay in western Nebraska before eventually move east into eastern Nebraska. However, it will have to overcome dry air first (below).
That lighter shade is full of dew points below zero. That’s very dry air and snow really doesn’t like dry air! It will have to overcome that before snow starts to fall Saturday.
After it’s all said and done, the most amount of snow will fall in the panhandle. Smaller amounts will fall further east with a trace to 1″ possible in eastern Nebraska Saturday.
